CrafDi – Crafting Digitally: Bridging Artisans to the Global Market

CrafDi aims to enhance the digital skills of rural artisans and create an online platform that empowers them to access—and thrive in—the global marketplace. By equipping artisans with the necessary tools and know-how, the project will help them reach wider customer bases and improve their economic well-being. Simultaneously, it will foster the exchange of knowledge and traditional craftsmanship techniques among artisans from Latvia, Greece, and Turkey, thereby preserving and promoting our shared cultural heritage.

Our Project with Questions

1. What is the main goal of the CrafDi Project?
The main goal of the Digital Skills and Craftsmanship: Bringing Artisans Closer to the Global Market (CrafDi) project is to empower traditional artisans with essential digital skills that will help them promote and sell their handmade products online. The project aims to bridge the gap between local craftsmanship and the digital economy, enabling artisans to become more visible and competitive in global markets.
2. Who are the project partners?
The CrafDi project is coordinated by the Maltas Association Administration of Rēzekne Municipality (Latvia), in partnership with:
HELIX Organization (Greece) – www.helixhub.eu
LESACA – Lifelong Education Science Art Culture Association (Turkey) – www.hayatboyuegitim.org
Together, these organizations bring expertise in adult education, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and creative industries, ensuring the project’s success and sustainability.
3. How can local communities and artisans benefit from the CrafDi project?
Local communities will benefit through capacity building, networking, and visibility. Artisans participating in the project will gain new digital competencies, improve their business potential, and connect with other creative professionals across Europe. In the long term, the project promotes cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and social inclusion through the fusion of tradition and innovation.
4. Why is digitalization important for artisans and craftspeople?
In today’s economy, digitalization is a key factor in sustainability and growth. For artisans, being digitally skilled means the ability to:
Present their work online through e-commerce platforms.
Reach new audiences beyond local markets.
Preserve and share traditional crafts through digital storytelling.
Increase income by connecting directly with global buyers.
Thus, CrafDi helps artisans transform their crafts into economically viable and globally visible products.
5. What kind of activities does the CrafDi project include?
The project includes a variety of innovative activities such as:
Digital training sessions on photography, e-commerce, and marketing.
Workshops for integrating traditional crafts into digital platforms.
Video tutorials and guides on creating online craft shops.
Cultural exchange meetings between artisans and digital experts.
These activities are designed to provide practical, hands-on experience and long-term benefits for adult learners and local craft communities.
6. What are the expected results and outputs of the project?
CrafDi will produce several concrete and accessible outputs, including:
A Digital Guidebook for artisans on online marketing and shop creation.
A Video Training Series covering the main topics of digitalization.
An Online Platform (www.crafdihub.com) to share learning materials and showcase artisan products.
These results will remain publicly available to ensure long-term impact and inspire other initiatives in the field of digital crafts education.
